The Psychological Therapies Unit (CIC)

Location: 54 St James Street, Liverpool, L1 0AB.

What is the Psychological Therapies Unit?

The Psychological Therapies Unit is a Community Interest Company (not for profit) that has been providing a range of psychological services, both to private individuals and to companies and other organisations, since 1998. Our therapists use  a number of different psychotherapeutic approaches, including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and bereavement counselling. Click here see our list of therapists and their specialities for more information on what is available.

While our therapists are diverse in their specialities, over recent years we as an organisation have increasingly shifted towards a solution-focused way of working. Solution-focused practice differs from the majority of talking therapies in that, instead of looking back at past problems, it focuses on helping people to move forward in the direction that they want.

In an effort to make solution-focused conversations more accessible for some of the most disadvantaged members of the population, we are currently offering free sessions to those who are referred by certain organisations, such as the local Whitechapel centre homelessness and housing charity. If you feel that you or your organisation may qualify for this, please do get in touch to discuss. Otherwise, usual rates are given below.

Self Referrals (Private Clients)

Standard rate: £70 per 1-hour session.

Flexible rates: If you cannot afford the standard rate, please contact us and we will discuss alternative options. Cheaper rates are offered on a sliding scale between £20 and £70.

Professional Referrals

We accept referrals from a wide range of sources and regularly work with organisations such as Jaguar Land Rover, Criminal Records Bureau, and numerous insurance companies and solicitors. In addition to providing one-on-one therapy, we also provide medico-legal assessments for personal injury, road traffic collisions, and work-related difficulties, and act as witnesses in court proceedings.

Please contact us for corporate rates.
